Sunny California
Having just gotten of the plane after a 5 hour trip and negotiating thru LAX, we had lunch at the Yard House, know for their yard high beer glasses. Nice walk thru the Marina and little shops. Lots to see and do. Photo's to follow...

The Mayor and Chief of Police have their knickers in a knot today over the latest shooting. They dont understand why when there were hundreds of witnesses to the shooting, no one saw anything. I think even I can figure that one out, if you saw something, you end up dead. What will it take to change things in this city?
Almost Time To Go
The suitcases are almost packed, tickets and passports at the ready and the taxi ordered. We are off to sunny California compliments of the "offspring". Early Christmas presents, he says. We are off to see my "better half's" two "offspring" who live there. Will try to update this as we go along with photo's (maybe) if i'm successful at uploading. We shall see...

I'm still waiting for the ahha moment that my "offspring" assures me will come any moment now. I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to get pictures on this site before my trip to California. Once my down there I really wont have time to play with this so either it will work or not.
Having recently been to Cuba I wanted to post a few observations. Of course staying in a tourist town is different than living with the natives does not give one a complete view. Most of the Cubans we met were more than happy to talk to us about their desperate situation. They are worried about what will happen when Castro dies and his brother takes over. They are afraid of a civil war but know that it's pretty much inevitable. They hope for a better future for themselves and their children. They live in desperate poverty the like of which I havent seen since Acapulco, but that's another story. The dilema is two fold, one on hand we as Canadians like to go there because it's cheap, but if we stopped going for a year there would be a revolution, in my mind. They would loose all the tourist money from us and I believe it would lead to a quicker decline in Castro's power.

Why is it that when the Conservatives advocate tax cuts the Liberals tell us that it will "destroy the social fabric", but when the Liberals offer us a tax cut over the next 6 years in order to get our vote it's okay? Just wondering!
I'm having trouble understanding how in the spring budget Mr. Gooddale painted a grim picture and told us we would not have a surplus this year, maybe even go back to deficit and yet here we are just days before a possible election call and we have a humungous surplus? Just wondering!
Another black shooting today at the funeral of a black youth shot last week. Why is it that when Police patrol trouble areas they are berated for doing so but when they were not at the funeral to watch out for potential trouble they are berated for not being there? Just wondering.
When a young girl (white) accuses 14 youth of sexual assault and harrasment, she is accused of being racists. When 14 black youth allegedly harrass and comit sexual assault against a young girl (white), why does she not cry racism(reverse)? Just wondering.
