Life has been incredibly busy and stressful recently. The cabin was listed and before I could even think about it there was an offer. After a bit of negotiating we accepted it but I had trepidations about it. As it turned out the buyer didn't qualify for financing and the deal crashed. I breathed a sigh of relief. That was late May.
As the summer arrived, and it was a spectacular summer, we were able to spend more time there and Steve did a lot of fishing. I knit and relaxed. Then out of the blue a buyer arrived to buy all of my pottery studio equipment. That was something that preyed on my mind a lot, what to do with all the stuff. I had a kiln, a wheel and an extruder and various bits and pieces plus tons of raw materials for mixing glazes. I had prior had inquiries for one or the other of the stuff but to find a buyer to take it all was my goal. A very nice new potter came alone and she got the deal of a lifetime if I do say so myself.
Early August we got to see our granddaughter Elliotte for a whole day and a half. It wasn't long but it was fun and we really hate that they live so far away.
It was a really hot day and she was having a ball running under the sprinkler in the back yard.
After we dropped Elliotte and her mom off at the airport for their trip back home we headed north on our annual fishing trip to North Bay where Steve caught his first ever Pickerel (Walleye to Americans) all of 25" long.
It was a beauty and fed four of us easily.
A couple of days later we were off to Parry Sound for the annual bridge weekend at a friends cottage. The weekend was spent eating, drinking, playing bridge and a brand new board game called Sequence that we have all become addicted to.
When we arrived back in T-Dot mid August we had another offer on the cabin. This one went through and we had two weeks to get our stuff out before closing just a week ago. It was really difficult to get that done and required two trips up plus numerous trips to the dump. It is amazing what you accumulate in 24 years and everything you no longer need in the city ends up at the cottage.
We got it done, the new buyers took over just in time for the long weekend and judging from an email I had they are very happy with their new cottage. I'm glad, I really wanted a buyer to love the place as much as I did. I think they do.
We are not making our annual trip to Greece this year for various reasons and that's fine with me. Things are too unstable there at the moment and I don't need the stress of being German in a country that hates Germany. Hopefully things will settle down for next year. Instead much to my chagrin, my sweetie insists that we are going to California. We have two boys there we haven't seen in a while. I just hate the idea of the security goons at the airport groping me all over. And they will, I beep and I refuse the body scanner. My doctor actually advised against it, said the long term effects were still an unknown.
As far as my health goes, nothing much has changed. The Methotrexate appears to be having some effect as my sweetie tells me I complain less. Newsflash, I've stopped complaining as it doesn't bring anything. But he could be right, who knows. My Rheuma doc says that the swelling on my joints especially my knees seems to have lessened. The side effect though are killing me and I might try it in an injectable form as soon as I can wrap my head around the idea. I'm really bad with needles.
She had hoped it would also solve the inflammatory bowel issues but so far not happening, the problem persists. I've been doing some research and discovered some interesting reading. I won't bore you with links though I'll just tell you what I found out. My problem started within days of having my second hip replacement in May 2010. I remember telling the nurse about it and was kind of fluffed off by my least favorite nurse there. Now I'm reading that epidural anesthesia can cause bowel incontinence and diarrhea. It's called Cauda Equina Syndrome and it is a rare side effect. It's just that this problem I have has lasted over two years with no relief. No matter what I try the problem persists and it is a difficult way to live. I will be asking the doctor about it, as soon as I can score an appointment.
