Rhodes In Flames

The fires in Greece have begun again and now one of my favourite islands has been in the news. Over two thousand tourists have been evacuated due to heavy smoke and encroaching flames. Not a pretty sight and devastating for the tourist industry during the busiest months.

 Lindos Acropolis

Very sad indeed...

Awful, just awful. We get wildfires like that every summer on the east side of the mountains. Oneof the many reasons why I would never move to Eastern Washington.

How horrible. I feel bad for the people living on that island who need to make a living and can't. I hope they're able to stop things soon.

Rhodes was one of my favourite islands and one with a lot of history. All the pine trees going down to the beach are now burned. Most of it is due to the carelessness of the people and arson by builders who want to put up houses on the mountain side, sad indeed...
