Snow-Mageddon!!
That's what the weather people are calling this blizzard. This is the first of three and so far we've had 20 cm today. The next one is expected to roll in Sunday night and I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how that one plays out. The last of the three is expected on Tuesday but so far it's meant t come in later in the day and our flight to Calgary is in the morning. I guess the one we had on Wednesday that dumped 10 cm doesn't count.
Steve was out first thing this morning cleaning the snow so we could get out and get some groceries. Good thing too, by afternoon nothing was moving on the street. Purolator made a deliver to this house today and promptly got stuck. He ended up backing up to get out of the street.

This is what it looks like right now and our neighbour Jim is out there with the snow blower doing the sidewalks and all the driveways. It's too dark now to take his picture but he's doing a great job.
One major highway was closed after a 25 car bang up and hundreds of flights have been canceled. We are nice and toasty and don't really have to go out. We do have a Christmas party tomorrow but I'm hoping the roads are clear. I do have snow tires on the old van so I don't expect too much of a problem other than where to park the old jalopy what with all those snowdrifts. On Sunday we are having our neighbourhood pot luck dinner but I don't have to go far, just next door. I think I might be able to manage that. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all storms will be over by Tuesday but I've decided not to stress, whatever will be will be. I have no control over the weather, sigh...

I do hope your flight works out okay for you!
As you sit up there in the sky, in your nice warm condo you can think of us...
You're right, there's little you can do to make things work for Christmas. I think if you relax and enjoy the positive things, you'll be contributing for a good holiday season and spirit.
Hmmm with that kind of weather, people do need to have a lot of hobbies inside. :)
Hi Devil Mood, this will last until April so lots of knitting will get done. I'm taking my knitting to the airport just in case...
So, how did you fare with totals? It took 3 of us to dig out yesterday.
Rudee, 21 cm just over 8 inches and it also took three people to dig out. Because of the high winds there were two foot drifts in some places. All the neighbours were out helping each other. Now another one coming for tomorrow night...
Yikes, we have your weather coming our way. They are expecting more snow, high winds (up to 90 mph), blizzard conditions to be followed by an ice storm. My DIL and the children will be hiding out in their basement--their lot is full of huge evergreens which have a tendency to fall over. During conditions like this, we also always lose power. Last time we were out for about a week. Talk about cold--the fireplace can only do so much. I HATE, HATE, HATE this kind of weather; I thought I moved away from that when I left Wisconsin.
Renate, I'm not sure where you are but stay safe. If the weather people are right we will be flying out during a "break" of storms, Tuesday morning. Keep fingers crossed...
OH I hope the storms are over for you as well....here on the westcoast we are preparing for the 30-70cm they are predicting in the next 24 hours....like you they also told us there would be more snow by Tuesday...yes it does look like it's going to be a white Christmas....I truly hope you are able to make it to Calgary....something tells me you will....I also hope you make it to some of your Christmas functions....I can't drive right now due to my surgery..and I am feeling like a cooped up chicken....ah well this to shall pass...cheers!
I heard about the snow out in B.C. Mary Anne, keep safe. The totals are in, 50 cm since Wednesday. I hope it's over for a while...
